Master’s Degree in Healthcare Economics and Management (MEMdS)

Master’s Degree, blended e-learning

The Master’s Degree programme is sponsored by the Department of Economics and Finance (DEF) of the Tor Vergata University of Rome and is supervised in collaboration with the Consortium for Applied Economic Research in Healthcare (C.R.E.A. Sanità).


The Master’s programme is open to 1st and 2nd-level graduates (regardless of whether they graduated under the old or new scheme), in medicine & surgery, nursing sciences, pharmacy and other healthcare professions, economics, law, political science and statistics. The Board of the Master’s programme may assess the eligibility of graduates from other degree courses.


The MEMdS aims to provide and update theoretical and practical competences that are useful in healthcare services management in both the public and private sectors.


The Master’s programme is destined for those who aspire to management responsibilities, those with organisational and management responsibilities, as well as in the field of administration, in public and private healthcare organisations.


Blended e-learning is used.

Most lectures are online, via the FAD platform, with credentials supplied at registration.

Classroom lectures are only held at the end of each module, when the intermediate learning assessment tests are held.


The platform provides the opportunities to:

  • re-run lectures at any time;
  • consult and examine teaching material in depth (documents, slides, videos, etc.);
  • do the exercises;
  • conduct self-learning tests;
  • take part in discussion forums.

The programme provides for a common part, in which the following topics are covered:

  • foundations of healthcare economics and policy
  • foundations of business economics
  • foundations of statistics and epidemiology
  • foundations of healthcare organisation and planning
  • foundations of healthcare law and legislation


Optional specific courses are:

  • clinical management;
  • administration management;
  • coordination and management of primary care and local services;
  • regulatory context for the pharmaceutical and medical devices sector;
  • assessment of healthcare systems, projects and technologies;
  • HSEQ in the healthcare sector.


The enrolment fee, which can be paid in two instalments, is € 3,000
